What does Vimpo cost?
It's completely free during the beta. The full release will be a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Speech recognition runs on a local model and stays free; AI features such as translation and AI Highlights use your own LLM API key.
Do I need Homebrew or Python?
No. Vimpo downloads the official macOS build of yt-dlp from its GitHub releases and keeps it in its own folder.
Can I use my own yt-dlp?
Yes. Go to Settings → Components and click “Choose Executable…”.
How do I update yt-dlp?
Settings → Components → Update.
Can it download members-only or age-restricted videos?
Yes. Turn on “Use Browser Sign-In” in Settings. It works with Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera and Chromium.
Does it download playlists?
Not yet. Each link downloads one video.
Which sites work?
Anything yt-dlp supports: YouTube, Bilibili, Vimeo, X, TikTok and thousands more.
